We are thrilled to let SVSUG members know that Robert Rodriguez, Ph.D., Senior Director of Statistical R&D at SAS Institute, Inc., has been elected the 107th president of the American Statistical Association (ASA). Bob has been a speaker at several SVSUG and Sacramento Statistical Association meetings over the past few years.
He will become President-Elect on January 1, 2011 and then President on Jan. 1. 2012.
Bob has been a SAS Institute employee since 1983 and is also an adjunct professor of statistics at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, from which he earned MS and Ph.D. degrees. He also holds a BS in mathematics from Case Western Reserve University.
Among his many accomplishments at SAS has been development ODS Statistical Graphics and many SAS/STAT and SAS/QC module enhancements. He is an elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association who last year received their “Founder’s Award” for his many years of distinguished service to the organization.
